Alli Thurmond Quinlan: A Rising Star Under 40

Alli Thurmond Quinlan is a dedicated professional who has made it her mission to promote sustainable growth, urbanism, and historic preservation through her multidisciplinary design consulting firm. With a background in architecture and landscape architecture, Quinlan brings a unique perspective to her work, focusing on architecture, master planning, landscape, and infrastructure investment analysis.

Growing up on a cattle ranch in western Oklahoma, Quinlan developed a deep appreciation for the natural environment and the importance of preserving our heritage. This passion led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Oklahoma in 2008, followed by a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Virginia Tech in 2010. With her education and experience, Quinlan has honed her skills in creating sustainable and innovative design solutions.

After working as a staff architect for SK&I Architectural Design Group and as a landscape architect for Landscape Architecture Bureau in the Washington, D.C. area, Quinlan made the move to Northwest Arkansas in 2012. Here, she served as a project designer at the University of Arkansas Community Design Center before taking on the role of projects and construction coordinator at Arvest Bank. In 2015, she founded Flintlock LAB, where she continues to make a positive impact on the community through her design work.

Quinlan’s dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed, as her work has garnered awards from prestigious organizations such as the Congress for New Urbanism, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the American Institute of Architects, Architizer, and the American Planning Association. Her ability to integrate diverse information and requirements into elegant solutions sets her apart in the field of design.

Looking towards the future, Quinlan has ambitious plans to grow her company and increase its impact on the region. She believes that building a strong team that produces high-quality work is essential to achieving this goal. Quinlan also emphasizes the importance of work/life balance for her team, recognizing that a happy and fulfilled team is essential for success.

In addition to her design work, Quinlan is passionate about advocating for fire sprinklers in multifamily buildings and promoting affordable housing in the community. She serves on Fayetteville’s Planning Commission and Construction Board of Appeals, where she works to build a stronger community and create more opportunities for affordable housing. Quinlan also serves as the acting director of The Incremental Development Alliance, a nonprofit organization that supports small-scale developers in their efforts to revitalize communities.
